Ran a 400 mile loop along the top of Western Mass and down the Hudson River Valley to get some of the hard to get stuff, including bridge, tunnel, highest road, two from the Alice Isn’t Dead list, and four national park sites. Had to bail on a ghost town when it ended up being down a Jeep trail that had looked like a normal road on Google maps, plus a service station and two (three?) Atlas Obscura stops just because it got too late, but still a fun day. Lots of cool roadside stuff I wasn’t even looking for, which may have been the best part. Anyone else go on a big hunt today?

UPDATE: Total for the day is 1,197 points. Beware The Gamemaker.

Also, if anyone can identify this car I would be immensely grateful. ( UPDATE: Pixel got it, Buick Roadmaster)

Also also, while I will try to get scores updated tonight I can’t make any promises. I’m still an hour from home and have a lot of photos to go through, tag, and upload. Also I’ve only had a single protein shake today so I really need to stop and eat something.

I took my first pic today! Still need to figure out the Insta though, but I assume there’s a way to upload pics not taken through the app. But when I saw two identical gray Model 3s in the city lot, I knew I needed to go grab my mascot and return for #AGlitchInThe Matrix. Planning on hunting in earnest tomorrow (possibly driving on a dirt road that may actually be a bike path to reach a grass airstrip that’s having a fly-in event, among other things...)

If you want a good ghost town, head to Quabbin gate #40. You’ll have to park and hike in a bit on a paved road but you can see the Dana town common and some building foundations. It was one of the towns that was disincorporated to make the Quabbin, but it sits above water level.

I’ve been to Dana, it was actually one of the main sets of the last Oppo Rally (anyone who could find all twelve building sites would get like 500 points). I was just hoping I wouldn’t have to do a 2 + mile round trip hike to get a ghost town.

I need to find a ghost town! There’s plenty in California but they’re all really far out in the desert. Today was hot enough in the lower desert and LA and it only hit about 94. Sure we had the car with AC and got an early start but every adventure out for a photo was a challenge haha. Great day though, exceeded my 700 points in one day goal even though we missed a few of the things we couldn't legally get to.

I’m pretty disappointed I only have two days off through this whole thing. Definitely reduces my ability to take longer trips to find things (which I absolutely need to do). At this point, I’m aiming to not finish last.
